Panda Bear is the pseudonym of Noah Lennox, born in Charlottesville, Virginia, on July 17, 1978, founding member of Animal Collective. After forming the band in 1997 with his high-school friends, Panda Bear took Animal Collective to the top with his inspiration for experimental, psychedelic rock. He soon felt a need for freedom and released the album Panda Bear in 1998. Since 2002, Panda Bear has also been one half of the electro duo Jane. In 2004, Young Prayer demonstrates that he has a personal universe to express. In 2007, Person Pitch won critical acclaim. His successor Tomboy (2011) places Panda Bear among the American alternative rock musicians to watch. The diversity of his influences, from hip-hop to rock, is at work on the 2015 album Panda Bear Meets Grim Reaper. Panda Bear also contributed the track "Doin' It Right" to Daft Punk's Random Access Memories album. Navigating between electro and pop psychedelia, Panda Bear collaborates with producer Rusty Santos on his sixth album Buoys (2019). The Covid-19 pandemic interrupts the musician's stage activity, and he returns in 2022 with Reset, concocted with his alter-ego Peter Kember aka Sonic Boom. Reset was remixed twice, the first in a dub version with Adrian Sherwood and the second on a mariachi EP. Three years later came the melodic Sinister Grift, in which Noah Lennox played almost every instrument and collaborated with singer Cindy Lee on "Defense".
