Born Denis Koulaté, Ivorian singer and composer Petit Denis, also known as Denko or El Capo, was born on September 23, 1976 in Tabou in the west of the country. Considered one of the pioneers of zouglou, he cut his teeth with the group Gbatanikro, which also included Yodé & Siro. His first album, Tournoi, was released in 1996, followed two years later by Mon Gbêssê. It was with Pour Votre Propre Sécurité, in 2001, that he really established himself as one of the most influential voices in Ivorian zouglou. Thereafter, he regularly added new chapters to his discography, from Krakement 14 in 2002 to Lampedusa in 2022, via Flôcô 1 in 2005, La Main de Dieu in 2007 and El Capo in 2016.
