Pierre Moerlen's Gong

Pierre Moerlen's Gong was born following the departure of Daevid Allen and Didier Malherbe from the band they had founded. With Downwind (1979), the Alsatian drummer took the reins of the new group and steered it towards an ambitious jazz-rock fusion. From then on, percussion was at the heart of the band's music, from its break-up after Leave It Open (1981) to its resurrection with Breakthrough (1986), followed by Second Wind (1989). Full Circle - Live 1988 was released in 2001. Pierre Moerlen records a final Pentanine (2004) with a renewed team of Russian musicians. His death on May 3, 2005 put an end to a long and rich career. In 2010, passionate musicians enrich the legacy of Pierre Moerlen's Gong with the Tribute album.
