Pietro Basile is a Munich-born pop singer whose origins can be traced to Calabria, Italy. He was raised in Germany in an Italian-speaking household and he attributes this multicultural upbringing as being a key to success for his music. A common feature in his material is the use of German language for the verses and then singing the choruses in Italian, which has helped his popularity grow in both countries. His breakthrough came in 2008 with the song 'Scusami', a track which initially went viral through YouTube and has since gone on to become a modern pop classic often featured in reality TV talent shows. After signing with the label Teenage-Beatz in 2009, Basile's career was propelled and he has had a succession of hits which have brought him chart success throughout Europe. In 2015 the artist began working with the singer and producer Simon Blaze. The collaboration marked a change of direction for Basile and a more optimistic tone as distinct from the melancholy songs which defined the early part of his career.
