Pietro Lombardi (June 9, 1992) is an R&B singer who became famous when he won season eight of the German reality TV singing competition Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar in 2011. Born to an Italian father and a German mother, Lombardi left high school without a diploma and began performing as a singer in 2009, supporting himself with jobs at a pizzeria and at a Swarovski workshop. After successfully auditioning for DSDS, Lombardi performed well in the competition, placing first or second in each round despite forgetting the lyrics in one performance. Lombardi also began a relationship with fellow contestant Sarah Engels, marrying her in 2013. After the competition, Lombardi released his winning single “Call My Name,” written by DSDS judge Dieter Bohlen. The single topped the German, Austrian, and Swiss charts, going platinum in Germany. It was followed by his debut album Jackpot (2011), which topped the album charts in Germany and Austria. The album Pietro Style was released later that year featuring the single “Goin' to L.A.,” with the album reaching Number 17 on the German charts. Two albums followed in collaboration with his wife Sarah Lombardi—Dream Team (2013) and Teil von Mir (2016). The couple was featured in the reality TV series Sarah & Pietro, following their lives as they built a house and as Sarah gave birth to their son Alessio. In 2016, they announced their divorce. Pietro Lombardi returned to chart success with the 2018 single “Phänomenal” and the 2019 singles “Nur ein Tanz” and “Bella Donna.” In 2019, Lombardi returned to Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar as a judge and issued his third full-length Lombardi a year later. Preceded by the singles “Es Tut Schon Wieder Weh” and “Drake & Rihanna,” Lombardi fell just short of reaching the top of the German and Austrian charts, peaking at Number 2 on both. 2021 marked the release of the single “Ti Amo,” a reggaeton-flavored summer anthem that hit Number 16 in Germany.
