Provinz is a German indie pop band from Vogt near Ravensburg that was founded in 2017. The two cousins Vincent Waizenegger and Robin Schmid have been making music together for some time under the name Twice. Later, cousin Moritz Bösing and drummer friend Leon Sennewald join them and the band changes its name to Provinz. By taking part in a funding competition at the Mannheim Pop Academy, the band came into contact with record companies and signed a contract with Warner Music in 2019. In March 2019, Provinz released their first single, "Neonlicht". Provinz released the EP Reicht dir das, produced by Tim Tautorat, in May 2019, followed by appearances at major festivals and on television. The debut album Wir bauten uns Amerika is released on July 17, 2020 and reaches number 4 in the German album charts, in Austria and Switzerland it only just misses the top 10. 2021 also sees the singles "Zu spät um umz umzudrehen" (number 14) and "Liebe zu dritt" with Majan and Jeremias (number 77) reach the German charts. Provinz received the 1 Live Krone in the "Best Newcomer Act" and "Best Band" categories in 2020 and 2021. The second studio album Zorn & Liebe follows in 2022. The album climbed to number 2 in the German charts and also reached the top 10 in Austria at number 9. In Switzerland, it reached number 13. In 2023, Provinz and Nina Chuba achieved another top hit with the single "Ich glaub ich will heut nicht mehr gehen", including number 13 in Germany. Further hit singles followed with "Ennio" (2023, together with Ennio) and "Draußen ist Krieg" (2024, together with Soho Bani). Pazifik, the third studio album from Provinz, followed in February 2025.
