Rachel Chinouriri

Born on November 1 1998 in Kingston upon Thames, Greater London, and raised in Croydon to parents from Zimbabwe, Rachel Chinouriri is a UK singer-songwriter who specializes in indie-rock and neo-Britpop. Her career took off in 2018 after she began sharing her music online and caught the attention of Parlophone. She released "So My Darling"—which she wrote when she was just 17—on the label in 2018 and her debut critically acclaimed EP, Mama's Boy, followed in 2019. Her first mini-album, Four° In Winter, surfaced in 2021. In January 2022, her 2018 single "So My Darling" enjoyed a surge in popularity after it was picked up by TikTok, and she subsequently re-released an acoustic version of the song. For her debut album, she looked to the Union Jack-clad aesthetic of the 1990s Britpop phenomenon for inspiration. What a Devastating Turn of Events was released in May 2024 with collaborators including Rich Turvey and Kenny Beats. The LP reached number 17 on the UK Albums Chart.
