Known in the Netherlands as the “King of Dutch Latin,” Rolf Sánchez Wienk (born on July 3, 1991) is a Miami-based Dutch singer and one of the leading exponents of tropical and urbano music in his home country. Inspired by the likes of Marc Anthony and Juan Luis Guerra, Sánchez started performing in talent shows from a very young age. In 2011, with just 19 years, he became a contestant in reality TV music competition X Factor Holland, where he captivated audiences with his rendition of Luis Enrique’s smash hit “Yo No Sé Mañana.” Despite finishing in third place, Sánchez caught the attention of Sony Music Latin, who offered him a record deal on the spot. The show’s popularity catapulted Sánchez to stardom, and he was soon playing sold-out shows throughout Holland. He made his official debut that same year, with a cover of David Bisbal’s “Ave María,” which reached a tepid Number 73 on the Single Top 100. In the following years, Sánchez relocated to the Dominican Republic to relaunch his career in the Latin market, releasing the 2015 hit singles “Por Si No Te Vuelvo a Ver” and “Qué Se Siente,” both of which topped Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart and earned the singer a nomination for Breakthrough of the Year at Univision’s Lo Nuestro Awards. Another Latin Pop Airplay chart-topper ensued with “Vas a Entender” in 2016, and he scored two Top 20 singles the following year with “Paso a Paso” and “Te Va a Doler,” in collaboration with reggaeton singer Farruko. 2019 saw Sánchez go back to the reality TV format, this time on the show Beste Zangers, which spawned “Pa Olvidarte,” a duet with singer Emma Heesters that reached Number 2 on the Single Top 100. Subsequently, he inaugurated the new decade with “Más Más Más,” an uplifting Latin pop number that made it to the Dutch Top 40.
