Combining a knack for crafting R&B and hip-hop-tinged pop gems with his deep religious beliefs, California-based singer-songwriter Ryan Ellis has been active in the worship music scene since 2015. Born and raised in San Diego, he spent five years serving in the U.S. Navy and was a founding member of the Jabawockeez hip-hop dance crew before a life-changing religious experience made him become a pastor at Isla Vista Worship. Live from the Upper Room II, his official debut, appeared in 2015 and was followed by 2019’s Kingdom Glory. Later that year, he released the full-lengths Lyfe and Rysponse, two separate albums connected by the thread of spirituality. In addition to his solo career, Ryan Ellis has also penned hits for other CCM artists, most notably Chris Tomlin’s “Resurrection Power,” which earned him ASCAP’s Most Performed Song award in 2018. After signing with the Provident Label Group, he made his major-label debut in 2021 with the single “Heart of the Father.” In 2022, his track “Gonna Be Alright” reached Number 47 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart.
