Ryu Si-won is a South Korean singer who began his musical career after establishing himself as an actor in the 1990s. His debut album, Change, was released in 1995 in South Korea, but it was his subsequent activities in Japan that solidified his reputation as a prominent artist. Ryu’s Japanese music career began in the early 2000s, with his 1999 album Dream and later releases like Yakusoku (2004), Kosumosu (2005), and Asian Blow (2006), which all achieved commercial success, earning certifications and solidifying his popularity in Japan. He became the first Korean artist to hold two live concerts at Tokyo Dome in 2008, and his career continued to flourish with consistent album releases such as Mangekyō (2009) and Season (2012). Ryu’s ability to cross cultural boundaries was marked by his appearances in commercials for Korean tourism in Japan in 2012. His popularity in Japan was such that he held his 100th solo concert in 2011, capping off a successful era of musical achievements in both countries.
