Founded in Tokyo, Japan on August 21, 2015, Sakurazaka46 is a 20+ member J-Pop girl group, Nogizaka46's first sister group. During their first three years, they were known as Keyakisaka46. Their debut single “Silent Majority” (2016) hit the number 1 spot on the Oricon Singles chart. Their next seven singles – including “Futari Saison” (2016), “Fukyōwaon” (2017), and “Ambivalent” (2018) – all repeated the same feat by reaching number 1 on the singles chart. Their debut album, Masshiro na Mono wa Yogoshitaku naru, was released in 2017. The group received numerous awards since their formation including Idol Group Award (Yahoo Japan Search Grand Prix/2016 and 2017), New Artist of the Year (31st Japan Gold Disc Award/2016), Excellent Work Award (59th, 60th and 61st Japan Record Awards), and many others. In October 2020, they released the compilation album Eien Yori Nagai Isshun: Ano Koro, Tashika ni Sonzaishita Watashitachi. Members of the group have come and gone during their first five years of existence and there have been subgroups related to the band including Hiragana Keyakizaka46 and Hinatazaka46. The group and subgroups also host multiple variety shows, radio programs, and television shows. During their existence, the group had a total of 59 members. In December 2020, the group released the single “Nobody’s Fault” under their new name Sakurazaka46. Even with the name change, the group’s singles – including “Ban” (2021), “Nagaredama” (2021), and “Samidare yo” (2022) – sailed to the top of the charts. In April 2022, they released their second album, As You Know?, which expectedly reached number 1. Sakurazaka46 continued their string of number 1 singles including “Sakurazuki” (2023), “Start Over” (2023), “Shōnin Yokkyū” (2023), and “Ikutsu no Koro ni Modoritai no ka?” (2024).
