Santiago Cruz

Santiago Cruz (born February 1st, 1976) is a Colombian singer-songwriter. Cruz lived in the city of Ibagué for most of his life, and moved to Bogotá during his early adult years to study Finance and International Relations. Not entirely convinced of his career choice, Cruz dropped out and decided to focus his energy on his music. Sólo Hasta Hoy (2003), his studio debut, spawned the hit single “Una y otra vez,” which earned Cruz invitations to perform with Latin pop luminaries such as Alejandro Sanz, Miguel Bosé, and Franco de Vita. In 2009, he released Cruce de Caminos, his first album for Sony Music. The LP was praised by both critics and audiences, earning him a nomination for the Latin Grammys in the Best Singer-Songwriter Album category and quickly achieving platinum status in his home country. Cruz collaborated with Spanish producer Nacho Mañó (of Presuntos Implicados fame) on his fifth release, Equilibrio (2014), which featured a cast of renowned studio musicians and extensive use of electric guitars. Two years later, he travelled to Rio de Janeiro to record with world-class producer Mario Caldato Jr. what would become Trenes, Aviones y Viajes Interplanetarios (2016). The album received a nomination to the Latin Grammys and was named as one of the 20 Best Colombian Albums of 2016 by online music portal Shock. He followed the success of his sixth effort with Elementales (2019) a collaborative album with several Latin American pop stars, such as Miranda!, Andrés Cepeda, and Francisca Valenzuela.
