With his solid musical training, Shai Maestro perfected his piano skills over the years and became a sought-after session musician when Avishai Cohen recruited him to his band in 2006. After playing on several albums and touring with the double bassist, the Israeli musician, born in 1987 and based in New York, emancipated himself in 2012 with the debut album Shai Maestro Trio. Three more albums, recorded with double bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Ziv Ravitz, follow between 2013 and 2016:The Road to Ithaca, Untold Stories and The Stone Skipper, where chamber jazz blends with traditional music. The last welcomes the voices of Gretchen Parlato, Theo Bleckmann and Bulgarian sisters Neli and Kalina Andreeva.
