Sophie Regina Allison, better known by her stage name Soccer Mommy, was born on May 27, 1997 in Zurich, Switzerland. However, it was in Nashville, Tennessee, that she grew up and went to school before attending the Nashville School of the Arts, where she studied guitar, an instrument she had begun learning at the age of 6, and played in her art high school's swing band. In 2015, having just reached the age of majority, she published her first tracks on social networks under the name Soccer Mommy and began performing live. Spotted by the Fat Possum Records label, she, who cites artists such as Natalie Imbruglia, Mitski, Slowdive, The Chicks, Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne among her influences, signed a contract and released her first proper album, Clean, in 2018. It follows two self-produced albums, 2016's For Young Hearts and 2017's Collection. While none of the three managed to break into the charts, Color Theory successfully inaugurated a new contract with Loma Vista and Concord, attracting attention in 2020 with its 142nd place in the Billboard 200. Two years later, Sometimes, Forever achieved an almost equivalent performance in the U.S. charts (#137). An artist acclaimed by the music press since her debut, Soccer Mommy regularly features in the year's top albums, leading to a reputation as a high-profile songwriter. In 2024, she teamed up with producer Ben H. Allen for her fourth album Evergreen, blending rich acoustic, electric and electronic instrumentation.
