The artist known as Still Woozy was born Sven Eric Gamsky in Oakland, California, on June 23, 1992. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Still Woozy began playing guitar in middle school and by the time he was 13, he was already recording and producing his own material. He graduated from high school in 2010 and then made a living by teaching guitar lessons and playing gigs with math rock band Feed Me Jack at local venues and jazz festivals. With them, he went on to release four albums before the group’s dissolution in 2016. The following year, he started using the Still Woozy moniker and dropped the singles “Vacation,” “Cooks,” “Wolfcat,” and “Goodie Bag.” The Lately EP saw the light in 2019 and so did the single “Habit,” a chilled-out R&B-tinged tune that found him further refining his bedroom pop production style. Still Woozy continued in that same vein for the 2020 singles “Window” and “BS,” and later broke into the Top 50 of Billboard’s Hot Rock Songs chart with 2021’s “Rocky,” the first single off of his highly-anticipated studio debut.
