Stefan Stoppok (* February 21, 1956 in Hamburg) or simply Stoppok is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and rock musician from Germany. Stoppok moved to the Ruhr area with his family at an early age and grew up in Essen. He applies to study at the Folkwang Hochschule, but is unsuccessful. At the age of 18, Stoppok hit the road and spent three years touring Europe as a street musician. He began playing solo concerts in 1982. At the same time, he releases his debut album Saure Drops und Schokoroll. Stoppok's songs combine a colorful mixture of folk, blues and rock. His first successes came at the beginning of the 1990s. His song "Ärger" from the album Stoppok became a minor hit in 1990. The single "Dumpfbacke" also attracted a great deal of attention in 1993. The subsequent album Happy End im La-La-Land made it into the German charts at number 26. Stoppok's subsequent releases regularly made it into the German charts. In the 2000s, Stoppok scored further hits with "Learning by Burning" (2000), "Tanz (Beweg dein Herz zum Hirn)" (2002) and "Cool durch Zufall" (2008). Stoppok also wrote the soundtrack music for the films Das Superweib (1996) and Was nicht passt, wird passend gemacht (2002). His album Popschutz climbed to number 20 in the German charts in 2014. The follow-up Operation 17 (2016) even made it to number 17 in Germany. Stoppok is now one of Germany's established singer-songwriters. His album Jubel reached the top 10 in Germany for the first time in 2020 at number 4. Teufelsküche follows four years later. The longplayer climbs to number 6 in the German charts.
