Swiss-Dutch pianist and composer born in Bern on July 30, 1970, Susanne Abbuehl followed a classical musical apprenticeship on harp and harpsichord before moving on to composition and singing. After studying musicology at the University of Los Angeles (UCLA), she formed a jazz band, then returned to Europe, to The Hague (Netherlands), where she studied with Jeanne Lee (jazz) and Rachel Gould (classical music). Dividing her life between the Netherlands, where she lives, Switzerland, where she teaches, and India, where she learns classical singing techniques, the artist recorded the Edison Award-winning albums April (2001), Compass (2006) and The Gift (2013) for the ECM label.
