Takanori Iwata (born on March 6, 1989 in Nagoya, Japan), is a Japanese singer and dancer. Influenced by American dance documentary Rize in high school, he began performing in Dancing Crew JADE while he was in college, accepted into award-winning J-pop vocal and dance groups Sandaime J Soul Brothers and EXILE in 2010 and 2014 respectively. In 2016, he made his major film debut in Shokubutsu Zukan, earning several high-profile awards for his performance, leading to him focusing predominantly on acting over the next four years. An accomplished visual artist, in 2021 Iwata announced his solo debut with singles “korekara” (2021) “Ready” (2022) and “Only One For Me” (2022) featuring his hand-painted artwork. In October, he was awarded the MTV Dance the World Award at the MTV Video Awards, releasing his debut album The Chocolate Box on October 12, 2022, ahead of his first solo Japanese tour. Releasing several non-album singles including “BREAK THE LAW” (2023) and “Monochrome World” (2023), Iwata unveiled “Just You and Me”, “Paradise” and “MVP” in early 2024, ahead of his second album ARTLESS, which was released on March 5.
