Tamino

Born Tamino-Amir Moharam Fouad on October 24,1996, the artist known as Tamino was raised in Antwerp, Belgium. Tamino is the grandson of Egyptian singer and movie star Muharram Fouad. He began writing music when he was 14 before studying at Amsterdam’s Royal Conservatory. After releasing two EPs, Tamino (2017) and Habibi (2018), Tamino released his debut album, Amir, in 2018. Merging sounds from East and West, the album received widespread critical acclaim upon its release. A deluxe edition followed in October 2018 featuring new tracks and demos as well as live performances recorded at La Cigale in Paris. He won the Anchor Award at Germany's 2018 Reeperbahn festival and The Independent included Amir in their top 10 albums of 2018. Tamino has toured extensively throughout Europe, Africa, and North America. He has played at a number of festivals including Rock Werchter (Belgium), Pukkelpop (Netherlands), Rock en Seine (France), and SXSW in Austin, Texas. He released a live EP, Live at Ancienne Belgique, in 2019, which featured the Nagham Zikrayat orchestra, a collective of Middle Eastern musicians based in Brussels. These live-renditions were recorded during three sold-out shows at the Ancienne Belgique during his European tour in 2018.
