Tanya Chua

Born in Singapore on January 28, 1975, multilingual Mandopop star Tanya Chua made her first foray into music in 1997 after signing a recording deal with Singaporean management company Music & Movement. She kicked off her career with the release of English-language album Bored, which she followed up with Tanya in 1999; her first Chinese album and first album for PolyGram. That same year, she delivered her second English album, Luck, and ushered in the new millennium with Remember, for which she earned a Golden Melody Award nomination for Best New Artist while also branching out into film, penning the theme song for Singaporean romantic comedy movie Chicken Rice War; an adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Over the next twenty years, Tanya Chua went on to generate an impressive run of albums, including 2003's sophisticated Stranger (which saw her break into the Taiwanese market) and 2007's Mandarin LP Goodbye & Hello – which received an impressive seven nominations at 19th Golden Melody Awards 2008 and won in two categories: Best Mandarin Female Singer and Best Producer. 2009 saw the release of her eighth Chinese album If You See Him, which picked up four Golden Melody Award nominations, including Best Mandarin Album, Best Mandarin Female Singer, Best Album Producer and Best Composer. In 2013, Tanya Chua became a judge on the Chinese contest Sing My Song, as well as releasing her tenth Chinese album, Angel & Devil, that same year. She signed up for a second season of the show in 2015. In 2021, Tanya Chua dropped the album Depart.
