The East Light is a six-member boy band from Seoul, South Korea, where the group made its public debut in November 2016. Drummer Seokcheol, bass player Seunghyun, guitarist Junwook, and vocalists Sagang, Eunsung, and Woojin were all teenagers at the time. Sagang, Eunsung, and Woojin had previously competed in a televised singing competition called The Voice Kids, and Junwook had previously appeared on the talent show Star King. Together, the musicians formed a sort of pop/rock supergroup, striking a balance between youthful appeal and skilled musicality. "Holla," their debut single, was released on November 3, 2016, by Media Line Entertainment. A second single, "You're My Love," followed in June 2017. One month later, The East Light released the debut album Six Senses, which feature both of the previously-released singles and peaked at number 10 on the Gaon Album Chart in South Korea. Six Senses marked the band's commercial peak, and when the group returned in 2018 with the single "Real Man," it failed to chart. Later that year, bandmates Seokcheol and Seunghyun filed a lawsuit against Media Line Entertainment, claiming the agency had physically and mentally abused the band. The agency's CEO was indicted several months, and the ordeal effectively marked the end of The East Light's run, with the band lapsing into inactivity by the year's end.
