The Jadu (더 자두) was a South Korean modern rock band active from 2001 to 2008, known for its distinct sound and influence in the indie music scene. Formed in 2001, the band initially consisted of lead vocalist Jadu (real name Kim Deok Eun) and guitarist Kang Doo (real name Song Yong Shik). The band quickly gained attention, winning the Seoul Music Award for Best Newcomer in 2001 and the Mnet Asian Music Award for Best Coed Group in 2002. Their early work, including their debut album Version 0001 (2001) and Change Yourself (2002), helped establish them as one of Korea’s most celebrated indie bands. In 2006, Kang Doo left to pursue acting, and was replaced by Maru. The Jadu continued to release music, including Jadu 3 (2003), Jadu 4 (2005), and Happy Network (2008), before disbanding later that year.
