The Last Dinner Party formed in London, England, in 2021. Originally known as "The Dinner Party," the British indie-rock band features vocalist Abigail Morris, vocalist/guitarist Lizzie Mayland, multi-instrumentalist Emily Roberts, bassist Georgia Davies, and keyboardist/vocalist Aurora Nishevci. After playing their first show together in November 2021, the group quickly build an audience London, where The Last Dinner Party opened for The Rolling Stones in July 2022. An offer from Island Records followed, and The Last Dinner Party worked with producer James Ford on the band's debut single, "Nothing Matters," which was released in April 2023. The band joined Florence and the Machine on tour while "Nothing Matters" climbed the charts on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, eventually peaking at number 2 on the UK's Physical Singles Chart, Number 1 on the UK's Vinyl Singles Chart, and number 5 on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart in America. The follow-up singles "Sinner," "My Lady of Mercy," and "On Your Side" were all released during the latter half of 2023, and all four songs appeared on the band's debut album, Prelude to Ecstasy, which was scheduled for release in February 2024. Before the album's arrival, the group also received the "Rising Star" award at the 2024 Brit Awards.
