Formed in 2010 in St. George, Utah, The Piano Guys are an Internet sensation of four men who turned a passion for classical music into a thriving recording and performing career. With various social media platforms drawing millions of listeners and viewers, they created a crowd-pleasing mix of classical crossover, pop and rock with hit albums and performances around the world. Pianist Jon Schmidt and cellist Steven Sharp Nelson combine with videographer Paul Anderson and producer Al van der Beek to makeup the project. All are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as the Mormon Church) and they gave up other careers to pursue their musical venture. They attracted millions of views of new videos they posted every week from 2010 and they caught the attention of Sony Masterworks who signed them to a recording contract. Their tracks are a mix of classical forms with pop tunes, and they have produced several very popular albums of Christmas songs and hymns. Their eponymous 2012 debut album topped Billboard's Classical Albums and New Age Charts and went to Number 44 on the Billboard 200. The Piano Guys 2 (2013) also topped the Classical and New Age Charts and reached Number 38 on the Billboard 200. Other albums to reach the top two positions on the Classical and New Age Charts include A Family Christmas (2013), Wonders (2014), Live!: Carnegie Hall Audio + Red Rocks Concert Video (2015) and Uncharted (2016). Their 2017 holiday release, Christmas Together, topped both charts and went to Number 27 on the Billboard 200. The Piano Guys’ success continued with 2018’s Limitless and 10 (2020), which was also released as a deluxe two CD plus DVD edition.
