The Australian DJ and producer Timmy Trumpet was born Timothy Smith in 1982. As a young teenager he attended the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he studied the trumpet. Following an incident at the school he left and went into Australia's state education system which enabled him to become more involved with jazz music. He turned professional in 2005 and has built a reputation around his unique style which combines house with jazz trumpet playing. He is now ranked as Australian's number one DJ and performs upwards of 200 dates per year. His work is often promoted by the Ministry of Sound and he has signed a number of tracks over to the label, one of his best known tracks is the single 'Horny', a collaboration with fellow DJ Tenzin which went to number five in the Australian Mainstream Charts in 2011. Three of Smith's solo singles have reached number one in the ARIA club charts. Another notable collaboration has been his work with the club band PACHA. As well as his career in music Smith has been one of the leading characters in the FOX8 TV reality series 'The Stafford Brothers'.
