Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (or T.E.E.D.) is the brainchild of Orlando Tobias Edward Higginbottom, a US-based English DJ, producer, and singer-songwriter whose eclectic palette of sounds connects the dots between mainstream pop melodicism and more left-field subgenres of dance music such as UK garage and future house. Born on March 7, 1986, in London, he is the son of Edward Higginbottom, a renowned choral conductor and former director of the choir of New College, Oxford. His infatuation with electronic music started in his teens, after which he began uploading his first batch of demos to MySpace. After signing with Hot Chip's Joe Goddard's label Greco-Roman, he made his debut as Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs in 2009 with the EP All in One Sixty Dancehalls, followed by a second volume titled All in Two Sixty Dancehalls (2010), which contained his breakout single, "Garden." Higginbottom would release three more extended plays for Greco-Roman while simultaneously making a name for himself as a remixer, putting his own spin on tracks by Sky Ferreira, Tinashé, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga. Trouble, his major-label debut, was released in June 2012 via Polydor and reached number 2 on the UK dance charts, also charting in Australia and Scotland. The album was highlighted by several media outlets and was named Best Album of the Year by numerous publications. The next few years found the English musician collaborating as a producer with the likes of Banks, Mark Ronson, and Boys Noize, all the while putting out non-album singles such as "Without You" (2013) with Dillon Francis and "Feels Like" (2014) with Anna Lunoe, the first release under his new cross-platform label Nice Age. T.E.E.D. issued the EPs I Can Hear the Birds (2020) and Distance (2021) before dropping his second full-length album When the Lights Go in 2022.
