The artist known as William Chan was born William Chan Wai-ting on November 21, 1985, in Hong Kong. Between 2003 and 2006, he was a member of the Cantopop group Sun Boy’z under Emperor Entertainment Group. After recording three studio albums, the trio finally called it quits in 2008 and William Chan embarked on a highly successful solo career, starting with his studio debut Will Power (2008), which earned him several awards including Most Popular Male Newcomer at the Hong Kong Jade Solid Gold Best Ten Music Awards and Most Promising Award at the RTHK Top 10 Gold Songs Awards. He followed up with four more albums—Do You Wanna Dance (2010), Heads or Tails (2010), WOW (2011), and Pop It Up (2013)—before crossing over into the Mandarin market with the EP Waiting (2015), a staggering commercial success that obtained platinum certification shortly after its release. A year later, William Chan dropped the single “Plan W,” finally reaching the top of the charts in China and consolidating his status as a bonafide hitmaker. Following his first solo continental tour, he returned with the rap hit “Wild Wolf Disco” with Gem Dong Baoshi in 2019. Subsequently, his 2021 single “Dear Future Lover” rose to Number 43 on the Hong Kong charts.
