William Wei – born Wei Li-an in Taichung City, Taiwan on March 5, 1987 – is a mandopop and folk-rock singer/songwriter who is also known by the name WeiBird. He first came to prominence in 2007 as the winner of the first season of the televised Taiwanese talent competition series Happy Sunday. After winning the season, he signed a contract with Unfair Records and released his debut two-song EP, Slowly Wait, in 2009. His full length self-titled album was issued in 2010 and featured the popular singles “Have or Have Not” and “Because of Love”. Wei received four nominations at the 22nd Golden Melody Awards, winning Best New Artist. Someone is Waiting, his second album, was released in August 2012. Wei released his third album, Journey Into the Night, in 2014, which included the single “Wolves” which won an award at the 26th Golden Melody Awards. He released It All Started From An Intro, his fourth album, in 2016. After a four year wait, his fifth album, Sounds Of My Life, was released in 2020. Wei released his fourth studio album It All Started From an Intro in 2016 and his fifth studio album Sounds of My Life in April 2020. In December 2020, he released the single “Marry Me”, the theme to the television series Adventure of the Ring.
