Nam Woo-hyun, known mononymously as Woohyun, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, and actor. He was born on February 8, 1991, in Seoul. He achieved fame as the main vocalist of the boy group Infinite. Initially aspiring to be a soccer player, he shifted his focus to singing, auditioning for Woollim Entertainment and other agencies, including YG Entertainment. He was accepted into Woollim after performing a cover of Stevie Wonder's "Lately." Before debuting with Infinite on June 9, 2010, Woohyun modeled and competed in various contests, showcasing his singing talents. In 2011, he joined Immortal Songs 2 but left for Infinite's Japanese promotions. He returned to the show in 2012. He ventured into musical theater in 2012 with Gwanghwamun Sonata and acted in the drama The Thousandth Man. 2014 marked the formation of Toheart, a unit with SHINee's Key. They debuted with "Delicious." He also released the soundtrack "When Love Comes" for the Modern Farmer soundtrack, and directed a short film. In 2016, Woohyun began his solo career with the release of the EP Write.. which reached number 2 on the Circle Albums Chart and number 9 on the Billboard World chart. In 2018, he released Second Write.. and joined the cast of the musical The Days. This was followed by the release of his third extended play, A New Journey (2019), and an Asian tour. In 2022, after the release of his fourth EP With, Woohyun concluded his contract with Woollim Entertainment. He signed with Jflex in 2023 and released his debut full-length album WHITREE, cracking the Top 10 in South Korea.
