David Eugene Edwards, the mysterious leader of 16 Horsepower, formed the Wovenhand project in 2001 during a break from the band. After a few live performances, David Eugene Edwards released the album Woven Hand in 2002. Blush Music in 2003 features a majority of tracks from the first album, reworked to serve as music for an avant-garde dance company. Wovenhands continued in their dark country alternative vein with Consider the Birds in 2004. Following the break-up of 16 Horsepower in 2005, Wovenhand released Mosaic in 2006. Wovenhand's melancholy vein continues with Ten Stones in 2008. The Threshing Floor in 2010 and the live recording Live at Roepaen in 2012 also feature mystical atmospheres.
