Yosi Horikawa is a Japanese producer and sound designer, mostly known for making extensive use of field recordings and found sounds into his granular mix of hip-hop, jazz, ambient, and electronica. Hailing from Osaka, Horikawa took his first steps in music at age 12, recording the noises in his bedroom and overdubbing them across two tape decks to create his organic signature sound. An obsessive audiophile, Horikawa went on to study architecture and acoustics in college and, more often than not, built his own instruments and speakers. The release of Touch (2009), his debut EP, prompted an invitation to The Red Bull Academy in Madrid in 2011, where he got the opportunity to work with established acts like Anenon and Dorian Concept. Horikawa released Wandering, his critically-acclaimed debut EP, which was quickly followed by the EP Whispers from an Angel (2013), featuring Jamaican-American producer Jesse Boykins III. Vapor, his ASMR-tastic full-length debut, was instantly hailed by critics as a masterpiece and made it to the Best of the Year lists in several media outlets. Following the release of a collection of remixes entitled Vapor Remixed 1 in 2014, the studio maverick spent the next couple of years crafting his highly-anticipated sophomore effort, Spaces (2019), which was released via his own Borrowed Scenery label and spawned a world tour throughout both Europe and Asia.
