YOUNG POSSE

The South Korean girl group Young Posse was formed in Seoul, where the entertainment company DSP Media announced the group's formation on June 22, 2023. Singers Sunhye, Yeonjung, Jiana, Doeun, and Jieun made their live debut one month later and began working on their debut EP, Macaroni Cheese, which was released that October. The record reached number 86 on the Circle Album Chart, with the title track "Macaroni Cheese" hitting number 185. After failing to return to the South Korean charts with a follow-up single, "Young Posse Up," Young Posse returned to the recording studio and created a second EP. The result was XXL, which hit stores on March 20, 2024. Reaching number 51 on the Circle Album Chart, XXL marked an improvement in the group's commercial success. This was reflected by the chart peak of the EP's title track, "XXL," which hit number 82 in South Korea. Nominated for "Rookie of the Year" at the 2024 Seoul Music Awards, Young Posse continued to appear on several different Asian charts that spring, including Malaysia's Top 100 Deezer chart (where "Macaroni Cheese" debuted at number 31, one year after the song's official release) and South Korea's Top 200 Shazam chart (where "XXL" peaked at number 124 in March).
