Trevor Powers (born March 18, 1989, in Boise, Idaho) is an American musician known for his work as Youth Lagoon. He launched the project in 2010, releasing The Year of Hibernation (2011), a minimalist, atmospheric debut exploring psychological themes. His follow-up, Wondrous Bughouse (2013), was influenced by metaphysics and blended experimental pop with psychedelic sounds. In 2015, Savage Hills Ballroom marked a shift to a more refined production style, but in 2016, Powers announced the end of Youth Lagoon. In 2018, he returned under his own name, releasing Mulberry Violence, followed by Capricorn in 2020. A severe drug reaction in 2021 left him unable to speak for months, but he regained his voice while recording Heaven Is a Junkyard (2023), marking Youth Lagoon’s return. The album, released on June 9, 2023, on Fat Possum Records, signified a deeply personal and artistic revival for Powers.
