Zara McFarlane is a British jazz/soul singer and songwriter who received the award for Best jazz Act at the 2014 MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards. Born in London, McFarlane focused on the arts, studying musical theater (BRIT School), popular music performance (London College of Music), and jazz studies (Guildhall School of Music and Drama). As a member of Tomorrow’s Warriors, an innovative jazz music education and development organization, she interacted and performed with many musicians in the British jazz community. Signed to Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings, she released her critically-acclaimed debut album, Until Tomorrow, in 2011. She followed that up in 2014 with her sophomore album If You Knew Her. She released her third album, Arise, in 2017.
