Achime (Korean: 아침) is a South Korean indie rock band, recognized for their versatile sound and nuanced approach to themes of introspection and resilience. Formed in 2008, the band was initiated by Kwon Seonwook, who invited Kim Sooyeol to join following his military discharge. The original lineup also included Jeong Wookjae and Park Seonyoung, and they initially gained attention through MySpace Korea’s auditions. The current lineup consists of Kwon Seonwook, Kim Sooyeol, Lee Sangkyu, Kim Kyeongjoo, and Kim Jeongmin. Achime debuted with their EP Flower of Lie (거짓말꽃) in 2009, and quickly built momentum, performing on influential stages like The EBS space and prominent festivals such as Pentaport and Jisan Valley. Their first studio album, Hunch (2010), was recorded in challenging conditions, reflecting the band’s early struggles and raw sound. This was followed by the EP Hyperactivity (2011) and their second album, Overcome (2012), which critics praised for its "pessimistic" yet genre-blending sound. Their controversial single "Swtsxtn" (2013) led the band into a hiatus, lasting until 2017. Since their return, Achime has continued to release singles, including Hide and Seek (2017), Moratorium (2019), God's App (2021), and Portrait (2022).
