Italian organist, harpsichordist and conductor born in 1963, Andrea Marcon specializes in the interpretation of Baroque music. Trained at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, he alternates between organ and harpsichord, depending on the works, and collects prizes in competitions. In 1989, he founded a festival in his home town of Treviso, and moved on to a conducting career with the Venice Baroque Orchestra, which he founded in 1997. He teamed up with violinist Giuliano Carmignola on several recordings, notably of Vivaldi, then extended his repertoire to opera. At the same time, he teaches organ and harpsichord at Venetian academies and in Basel.
