Big Daddy Weave

Contemporary Christian rock band Big Daddy Weave formed whilst at college in Mobile, Alabama, USA in 1998. Charismatic lead singer and songwriter Mike Weaver had been the worship leader at a church in Florida, when he was encouraged by the pastor to study voice at the University of Mobile. Together with fellow band members Jay Weaver, Joe Shirk, Jeremy Redmon and Jeff Jones forming Big Daddy Weave, they released their first album 'Neighbourhoods' independently in 2001 before being signed by Fervent Records. Their first release with Fervent was 'One and Only' in 2002 which reached number 16 in the US Christian Albums Chart. They had two charting singles from the album, 'Audience of One' and 'In Christ', both released in 2003. Their best-selling single to date, 'Fields of Grace', was also released in 2003 and taken from the album of the same name released in the same year. This reached the top ten in the US Christian Albums Chart and also charted in the US Billboard 200. Big Daddy Weave released their fourth album 'What I Was Made For' in 2005, followed by 'Every Time I Breathe' in 2006. The title track of the latter was their first Christian Chart number one single in 2007. The band spent a year on tour with Mark Schultz before releasing several more singles and their fifth album 'What Life Would Be Like'. In 2012 their album 'Love Come to Life' reached number three on the US Christian Albums Chart and the top 100 in the US Billboard 200 Chart. The album contained number one single 'Redeemed' (2012) which reached platinum sales. There were also top five placings for singles 'The Only Name (Yours Will Be)' (2013) and 'Overwhelmed' (2014). In 2013, drummer Jeff Jones left the band and was replaced by Brian Behl. The band's next album 'Beautiful Offerings' (2015) reached number four in the US Christian Albums Chart and also charted in the US Billboard 200. US Christian Singles Chart top ten singles from this album were 'My Story' (2015) and 'The Lion and the Lamb' (2016). In 2019 they released 'When the Light Comes' featuring US Christian Singles Chart top ten 'Alive' (2017). Other single releases from this album, all released in 2019, include 'I Know', 'This Is What We Live For' and 'Joy! He Shall Reign'.
