Canailles is a Cajun, country and bluegrass-influenced folk band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Founded in 2010, the band consists of 8 musicians, Daphné Brissette on vocals, Annie Carpentier on washboard and vocals, Erik Evans on mandolin and vocals Benjamin Proulx-Mathers on banjo, guitar and vocals, Antoine Tardif on double bass, Alice Tougas St-Jak on accordion and vocals, Daniel Tremblay on banjo, guitar and vocals from 2010 to 2014 and Jean-Philippe Tremblay on drums, percussion and harmonica from 2010 to 2014. Canailles releases a debut EP in 2010 entitled Canailles. In 2012, they released the album Manger du Bois, which earned them a nomination for Album of the Year/Critics' Choice at the Gala de l'ADISQ. In 2014, the Montreal outfit released the album Ronds-Points , which was nominated for Album of the Year/Country at the Gala de l'ADISQ. In 2017, the band released the album Backflips and won Folk-Bluegrass Album of the Year at the GAMIQ. Canailles has played stages in Quebec, Canada, Europe, the U.S. and Reunion Island. In the spring of 2021, the band announces its separation on social networks.
