Swedish/American rock band Carolina Liar started out in 2006 when lead singer Chad Wolf met producer Max Martin who helped him put together a band of Swedish musicians including some talented songwriters and Carolina Liar was born. Founder members in addition to Wolf were Jim Almgren Gândara, Max Grahn, Erik Haager, Johan Carlsson and Rickard Göransson. They released their debut album 'Coming to Town' in 2008 and from it the single 'Show Me What I'm Looking For' (2008) which charted in six different countries, including America, where it reached number eight in the US Adult Top 40, and Ireland where it reached number six in the Irish Singles Chart. The second single from the album 'I'm Not Over' (2008) was also popular, reaching number three in the US Alternative Singles Chart. In 2009, Gândara and Grahn left the band and Peter Carlsson joined on drums. They went on tour supporting David Cook and Gavin Degraw in 2011, releasing their second album 'Wild Blessed Freedom' in the same year. Singles 'Drown' (2011) and 'Me and You' (2012) were released but did not sell as well as the singles from their first album, failing to make their mark in the mainstream charts. Non-album singles 'Here I Go Again' and 'Wrestling an Angel' were both released in 2005, followed by 'Open the Door' and 'Hit Bottom' in 2019.
