The contemporary Christian musician Chris McClarney was born on November 30, 1979. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, he relocated frequently as a child, thanks to his father's job as a youth minister. McClarney's passion as a musician would eventually bring him back to Nashville, where he launched his songwriting career in 2006 and independently released his debut album, Love Never Fails, two years later. An EP, Introducing Chris McClarney, followed in early 2010, with a second full-length record, Defender, appearing in August. Both records were released by the Kingsway label. By 2015, Chris McClarney had signed with Sparrow Records and established himself as an experienced touring act, which he highlighted with his first live album, Everything and Nothing Less. Recorded at the Jesus Culture Sacramento Conference in early 2015, Everything and Nothing Less reached Number 8 on both the US Christian albums chart and the US Heatseekers Albums chart. Another live album, Breakthrough, was released in 2018 and enjoyed similar success, peaking at Number 13 on Billboard's Christian Albums. The album spawned two radio hits with "Hallelujah For The Cross" and "I'm Listening," both of which became Top 40 hits on the Christian Airplay chart. In the wake of that success, McClarney released a string of EPs, including 2019's Fill This Place (Live), 2020's Café Sessions, and 2021's Speak To The Mountains. He also earned another Top 40 hit with Speak To The Mountains' title track, which climbed to Number 25 on the Hot Christian Songs chart and Number 26 on Christian Airplay.
