Crucial Star is the stage name of South Korean rapper and producer Park Se-yoon. Born in Seoul on October 16, 1989, he is the son of poet and painter Hang-Ryul Park. In 2007, he made his official debut as one half of the hip-hop group Libra Twins when he was just 17 years old. A few years later, he signed with the indie rap label Soul Company and began performing under the pseudonym Crucial Star. After collaborating with labelmate Mad Clown on the digital album Mad Clown VS Crucial Star (2010), he released his first EP A Star Goes Up (2011), which included the Donutman collaboration βAt an Angle (Rebirth).β A second EP titled A Star From the Basement came out later that year. Even though Soul Company dissolved in 2012, Crucial Star rapidly found a new home in Grandline Entertainment, who issued the mixtapes Drawing #1: A Dream Spokesman (2012) and Drawing 2: A Better Man (2013), the EPs Fall (2012) and Boyhood (2015), and his first full-length Midnight (2014). Soon after the termination of his contract with Grandline, Crucial Star returned with the EPs Fall 2 (2016) and Starry Night β17 (2017), followed by his sophomore effort Maze Garden (2018). A third full-length titled Serenity, Courage, Wisdom appeared in 2021 via NHN Bugs Corp.
