Cub Sport is a pop group hailing from Brisbane, Australia, established in early 2010. The band was originally named Tim Nelson & the Cub Scouts, featuring members Zoe Davis on keyboards, bass guitar, lead guitar, and vocals, Tim Nelson on lead vocals and keyboards, Sam "Bolan" Netterfield on keyboards and vocals, and Dan Puusaari on drums with the band's debut EP, Tim Nelson & the Cub Scouts, appearing in August 2010. Shortening their name to Cub Scouts in 2011, the group recorded two singles, "Evie" and "Do You Hear," receiving high rotation on Triple J radio, with their second EP, Told You So appearing in October 2012, prior to their U.S and European tour. In August 2013, the band changed their name to Cub Sport and released their third EP, Paradise, which featured two singles, "Pool!" and the title track. Their debut studio album, This Is Our Vice, appeared in March 2016, featuring hit song, "Come On Mess Me Up," which ranked number 24 on the 2016 Triple J Hottest 100 and certified platinum. Known for documenting their personal love story and queer journeys through music, in 2017, Cub Sport released their critically acclaimed second album, Bats, which explored personal and honest stories of self-acceptance and love, providing two singles, "Chasin'" and "Good Guys Go" prior to Nelson and Netterfield's engagement, with the pair marrying in 2018. In 2019, the band released their self-titled album, Cub Sport, following gold-certified hit single, "Sometime". Their fourth album, Like Nirvana, released in 2020, gained considerable momentum, debuting at number 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart and earning them a nomination for the 2021 AIR Awards for Best Independent Pop Album or EP. In January 2023, they announced their highly anticipated fifth studio album, Jesus at the Gay Bar, which after its April release, reached number 1 on the ARIA Top 50 Albums chart.
