Dan Bremnes's style of folk-inspired worship music became a hit on both sides of the Canadian/American border during the mid-2010s, when Bremnes scored hits on the Christian charts with songs like "Beautiful," "Up Again," and "Wherever I Go." He was born on May 11, 1983, in Kamloops, British Columbia. Raised by his pastor father, Bremnes independently released his debut album, Your Strength, in 2010, then signed with Sparrow Records for the release of his label debut, Where the Light Is, in 2015. The album peaked at Number 47 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart, with the lead single "Beautiful" climbing to Number 17 on the Hot Christian Songs chart. Two additional tracks, "Where the Light Is" and "In His Hands," cracked the Top 50 of the Christian Airplay chart, as the non-album Christmas single "Jingle All the Way." Bremnes hit Number 40 on Top Christian Albums with his 2018 EP, Where I Go, and returned in 2019 with a full-length album also titled Wherever I Go. Both records featured two songs that marked the biggest hits of his career. "Up Again" climbed to Number 16 on Hot Christian Songs and Number 12 on Christian Airplay, while the titular track "Wherever I Go" hit Number 19 on Hot Christian Songs and matched its predecessor's peak position of Number 12 on Christian Airplay. When another handful of singles from the full-length album failed to chart, Dan Bremnes returned to the recording studio to craft a stripped-down version of the record titled Wherever I Go (Acoustic Sessions). "The Way" climbed to Number 30 on Hot Christian Airplay, and Bremnes returned to the same chart two years later with a new single, "Hold You Tight," which peaked at Number 42.
