Diamond Platnumz is the stage name of Nasibu Abdul Juma Issack (born on October 22, 1989), an award-winning Tanzanian actor, musician, and entrepreneur. Rooted in the style of bongo flava, an amalgamation of American hip-hop, R&B, and traditional Tanzanian music, Issack made his recording debut in 2010 with Kamwambie, which quickly established him as one of the most influential artists in Africa. By the time his sophomore effort Lala Salama (2012) came out, his songs were the most downloaded ringtones in his native country and he was watched by millions as he performed on the elimination gala of Big Brother Africa’s seventh season. In the following years, Issack turned into something of a media mogul by launching his own record label, WCB Wasafi, as well as a TV and radio station of the same name. A third album entitled A Boy from Tandale arrived in 2018, featuring American rappers Ne-Yo, Omarion, and Rick Ross, plus some African top-tier artists such as P-Square, Tiwa Savage, and Davido, who lent vocals to the chart-topping single “Number One.” Between 2019 and 2020, Issack delivered a series of high-profile standalone singles in collaboration with Fally Ipupa (“Inama”), Tanasha Donna (“Gere”), and Koffi Olomide (“Waah!”).
