DIAURA

Formed in Tokyo, Japan in 2010, Diaura is a rock quartet, part of the visual key movement, which combines hard-hitting music an exaggerated glam rock look that includes make-up, flamboyant stage wear, and elaborate hair styles. Founded by vocalist yo-ka, guitarist Kei, bassist Shoya, and drummer Yuu, the group was made up of members of two of yo-ka’s previous bands: Valluna and Marely. Their first release was the single “Shitsuyoku no Seiiki” in January 2011. The following month, they released the single “Beautiful Creatures,” which rose to Number 10 on the Japanese Indie Singles chart. Diaura released their debut EP, Dictator, in August of 2011 and followed it with their first full-length album, Genesis, in 2012. The album was a minor chart hit, reaching Number 168 on the albums chart. Due to suffering from tendonitis, drummer Yuu had to leave the quartet in 2012 and was replaced by Tatsuya the following year. Their second album, Focus, was much more successful and rose to Number 49. Diaura’s next album, Triangle (2014), rose to Number 2 on the Indie Albums chart and Number 33 on the weekly chart. The group also saw increased activity in the Indie Singles chart with many Top 3 hits including “Sirius” (2013), “Horizon” (2014), “Silent Majority” (2014), “Ruin” (2015), “Gekkō” (2016), and more. Diaura released their fourth album, Versus, in 2017 and proved to be their most successful album to date, reaching Number 30 on the weekly albums chart. After a four-year break, the group returned in 2021 with the album R.I.P. In 2022, Diaura released the single “Vermillion” and the EP Catastrophe Note.
