Born Dominique Jones on June 27, 1988, in Yakima, Washington, the gospel singer is better known by her stage name, DOE. The daughter of pastors Dewitt Jones III and Kim Jones, DOE and her family moved to Shreveport, Louisiana while she was in her teens. She had already started writing songs by the age of 13 but blossomed as a songwriter and singer while attending Evangel Christian Academy. She became a member of the family group Forever Jones alongside her parents and siblings Dewitt Jones IV, Judah Jones, Mya Joy Grace Jones, and D’Jeniele’ Hooten, who released their debut album, Get Ready, in 2010. The song “He Wants It All” – written by DOE when she was just 17 – received a Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Performance and a GMA Dove Awards nomination for Song of the Year. Forever Jones released two more albums – Musical Revival (2012) and Prayer Tools, Vol. 1 (2014) – before DOE began her career as a solo artist. She continued writing with a variety of artists including Keith Thomas, Aaron Lindsey, and Keith Thomas but focused on ministry work before stepping back into the music scene in 2018. After appearing on Jonathan McReynolds’ single “Cycles”, she released the solo singles “Deepest Part of You” and “Reach” (2019). DOE released her self-titled debut EP in 2020, which was followed two years later by her first full-length album, Clarity (2022). The acclaimed album included the singles “Brighter” and “What I’m Waiting For.” In 2024, DOE released the Note to Self EP, which featured the radio hits “Holy Hands” and “God Is in Control.”
