DOES

The Japanese rock trio DOES hails from Fukuoka, Japan. Vocalist/guitarist Wataru Ujihara, bassist Yasushi Akatsuka, and drummer Kēsaku Morita formed the group in 2000.Two years later, the group debuted with Does, a five-song EP featuring tracks like "Regio Morning" and "Minor City Boy." While still an independent band, DOES released Outside in 2004, Fish For You in 2005, and Fish For You #2 in 2006. As 2006 drew to a close, the group signed with a label, Kyun Music, and released the singles "Are You Coming Tomorrow?" and "Red Sunday." Both songs also appeared on DOES' full-length debut album, NEWOLD, which as released in November 2006 and charted at number 164 in Japan. One year later, the group reached number 113 on the Oricon Albums chart with another album, Subterranean Romance, and number 9 on the Oricon Singles chart with Subterranean Romance's most successful single, "Shura." DOES earned another Top 10 hit with 2008's "Cloudy Weather," which peaked at number 3 and went platinum. "Bakchi Dancers" reached number 3 in 2010, while the albums The World's Edge (2009), Modern Age (2010), and KATHARSIVILIZATION (2012) all reached the Top 40. The song "Know Know Know" (from 2016's Innocence) reached number 19 on the Japanese charts, and the band took a four-year hiatus before reforming in 2020 and scoring a hit with the 2021 single "道楽心情."
