Farid Bang (born June 4, 1986 in Melilla, Spain) is a singer and rapper from Germany. Born Farid Hamed El Abdellaou, he discovered his love of rap music at the age of 19. A friend put him in touch with German rapper Eko Fresh. Together, the two singers released a few songs on the mixtape Fick immer noch deine Story in 2005. The debut album Asphalt Massaka was released in 2008. With the follow-up Asphalt Massaka 2, Farid Bang achieves his first chart entry in Germany at number 56. The other albums Banger Leben Kürzer (2011) and Der Letzte Tag Deines Lebens (2012) reach top positions in the charts in German-speaking countries. Farid Bang achieved his first number 1 position in Germany with the 2014 album Killa. Further albums followed with Asphalt Massaka 3 (2015), Blut (2016), Genkidama (2020), Asozialer Marokkaner (2020) and X (2021). Farid Bang's best-known songs include "Sturmmaske Auf (Intro)", "Gamechanger", "Ave Maria" and "Mahgreb Gang". Farid Bang also plays a supporting role in the successful German film series Fack Ju Göthe. Farid Bang's award of the German music prize Echo caused a scandal in 2018. The uproar over the award for a gangster rapper meant the end of the Echo as a German music prize. Farid Bang continues to release music very successfully. In 2022, the rapper enters the studio with Capital Bra and records the album Deutschrap Brandneu. The album becomes a number 1 hit in Germany and Switzerland and reaches number 2 in Austria. In fall 2023, Farid Bang releases Asphalt Massaka 4, his eleventh studio album. The album reaches number 3 in Germany and Switzerland and number 6 in Austria. Another studio album, XII, follows in September 2024. The album climbed to number 5 in Germany and reached number 7 in Switzerland.
