Fero47

Bringing melodic R&B hooks and traditional Kurdish sounds into German hip-hop, Fero47 built up a grass roots following through social media before he launched himself and his new style of pop-influenced European rap with his hit single 'Jaja' in 2019. Born to Kurdish parents who moved to Germany from Turkey, Ferhat Tuncel grew up in the town of Bad Pyrmont in Hameln-Pyrmont, Lower Saxony and began posting his raps to Facebook and sharing videos with friends on Instagram when he was 15. He set his sights on becoming a banker and moved to Frankfurt in 2015, but continued to rap and gained hundreds of thousands of followers who propelled him onto the influential BigFM radio show Deutschrap Raslert. French rap was also an influence on his less aggressive style, and although his progress was delayed by a serious car accident, his debut single 'Jaja' sampled Justin Timberlake's 'Cry Me a River' and went on to make the German top ten, receiving more than 15 million views on YouTube. Signing a major distribution deal with Epic Records at just 21, he returned again with follow-up single 'Puerto Rico' which reached number seven in Germany and made the top 20 in China.
