Glen Check is a South Korean indie band from Seoul, formed by singer and guitarist Kim June-one and bassist and synthesizer player Kang Hyuk-jun. Both members spent much of their childhood abroad, absorbing Western music influences, and met while attending Busan International High School. After initially forming a band called The Closure, they rebranded as Glen Check in 2011. The band debuted with the EP Disco Elevator in 2011, followed by their first full-length album, Haute Couture (2012). This album was critically acclaimed and won Best Dance & Electronic Album at the 2013 Korean Music Awards. It contained songs that would become fan favorites, such as "60s Cardin." Glen Check became known for their English lyrics and diverse musical influences. The group's second album, Youth! (2013), also received the same award at the 2014 Korean Music Awards. The track "Young Generation" was mentioned by Billboard as one of the best South Korean songs of 2013. After a hiatus, they released the EP The Glen Check Experience in 2017, which explored genres like psychedelic rock, old-school hip hop, and acid jazz. The band continued to release new music, including the single "Dive Baby, Dive" in 2021 and the track "Raving" in 2022, leading up to their third full-length album Bleach later that year.
